Distressed Diamond – From Brush to Fabric
From Brush to Fabric

Every design has a story, and my newest design, Distressed Diamond began with a collaboration that sparked creativity in something a little different.
A client I frequently work with in Atlanta reached out to me with a specific vision for her project—a calming, organic pattern that felt modern and hand-crafted. She shared the design parameters, and I immediately knew watercolor would be the perfect starting point.
I began experimenting with loose brushstrokes, letting the shapes evolve naturally. There’s something so special about working with watercolors—the softness, the slight unpredictability—it all lends itself to a beautifully imperfect texture that I wanted to preserve in the final pattern.
Once I was happy with the hand-painted elements, I moved into Adobe Illustrator to refine and build the repeat. Maintaining the organic flow while creating a seamless pattern was key. The client had also requested a very specific color: Sherwin-Williams Rainwashed. I color-matched it carefully to capture the subtle elegance of that soft green-blue tone.

The final result? A gently distressed, diamond-inspired pattern that feels airy and modern, yet rooted in hand-crafted detail. She ordered the design on linen cotton bled fabric for for window treatments—drapes that now add a layer of quiet sophistication to the room they were designed for. Stay tuned for the final completed drapes after the install.
Designing with intention is what I love most. Collaborating with interior design professionals or homeowners brings fresh energy to the process, can’t wait to see the final result.
If you have a project in which you envision a specific design for a fabric or wall covering you can’t find, I would love to collaborate with you.
